Does microdosing mushrooms give you energy?
A resounding yes!
The brain, inherently lazy as a survival mechanism to conserve energy, will always default to the easiest path.
Microdosing mushrooms flips that script.
Increased brain activity leads to more intellectual and, subsequently, physical energy. It becomes a self-reinforcing ecosystem.

A small study from Imperial College illustrates this.
The image above shows the brain of one man, one day watching a western on TV without a microdose, and another day watching the western on TV with a microdose of mushrooms on board.
The image on the left shows normal brain activity without a microdose, and the image on the right shows the man's brain firing an exponential 10x more neuron pathways with a microdose of mushrooms on board.
Raise your hand if you want a better brain as you age!
Neurological activity is the "fire starter" within us.
Start with neurological activity- One of the key starting points for all energy regulation, expression and motivation as a luminous being drives around in a biological vessel.

Studies using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) have shown that stimulating certain brain regions, like the motor cortex, can enhance muscle activation and improve physical performance. Lefebvre et al. (2004)
This suggests that increased neural activity in specific areas, stimulated by microdosing mushrooms, can directly influence physical output.
Stated earlier, the brain, in its inherent laziness, defaults to conserving energy.
Microdosing provides the spark that ignites neurological activity, leading to intellectual and then physical energy.

Absolutely.
fMRI studies demonstrate increased blood flow (a proxy for neural activity) in specific brain regions during demanding cognitive tasks. This indicates that greater neural activity is required for higher levels of mental performance.
Since microdosing mushrooms is proven to exponentially increase neuronal activity, this suggests it absolutely can increase mental energy as well.
Compared to coffee or energy drinks, microdosing offers a different kind of energy—
...especially when combined with functional mushrooms for the brain.
This is also crucial for those with PTSD, whose nervous systems and limbic brains are often hyper-vigilant.
I recently quit traditional coffee for various reasons, including:
...despite consuming regular meals and "clean" (mold-free) coffee.
People with PTSD often exhibit specific blood and health markers, including compromised adrenal function. Coffee, regardless of quality, can exacerbate these issues.
I switched to a morning drink of functional mushrooms like lion's mane and cordyceps, adding a microdose a few times a week.
The results?
No jitters, irritability, nausea, or sweats—just sustained mental and physical energy. My writing productivity has skyrocketed, and I'm more focused and productive than when I drank coffee.
I feel sooooo much better, and since I feel so good, I am exercising more regularly and feel very happy to have made the switch.

When talking about microdosing mushrooms, it's easy to get caught up in all the positivity this practice can offer.
But what about the risks or tradeoffs?
One important consideration to keep in mind is this:
The mushrooms give you what you need, not necessarily what you want.
So, let's say you're exhausted and sleep-deprived, or maybe you're dealing with some mild depression.
Will microdosing mushrooms give you energy, then?
Possibly. But it's also quite probable that it won't.
Instead, it might make you feel like lying down for a nap or just taking a much-needed mental and physical break.
After all, how many of us actually allow ourselves time to rest anyway?

Mushrooms are known, at any dose, for dissolving the ego.
So while your ego might be telling you to push through the exhaustion and take a microdose for an energy boost, you may find that you feel the exact opposite.
My advice?
Lean into this guidance from the mushrooms.
If you can...
REST.
The decriminalization of psilocybin is popping up all over the world...just like the shroomies do!
Be diligent and find out the legality of psilocybin in your area...
If you run into a legal issue...try cordyceps for a natural physical energy boost until the legal status changes in your area.
Like most subjects on microdosing, we are still waiting on the hard science to support the anecdotal data that microdosing does, in fact, give you energy.
In the mean time, we will just keep relying on what the ancestors from all over the world have been doing for thousands of years...
Whenever I microdose mushrooms, I get a jolt of energy like I just drank a bunch of energy drinks...without the side effects, of course! I feel like I want to go, go, go and...run up a mountain.

So, does microdosing mushrooms give you energy?
Heck yeah!
I'd even argue that coffee, in comparison to functional mushrooms and a microdose, *hindered* my energy by making me feel unwell, which drains both mental and physical resources.
