One of my biggest fears about microdosing mushrooms was that I would be criticized by my life partner who is in the medical field (RN) for not pursuing traditional treatment for anxiety. Multiple doctors wanted to prescribe combinations of medications such as anti-depressants, beta-blockers and anti-histamines for treatment of anxiety. The side-effects of the medications they prescribed are too long to list but common side-effects include drowsiness, weight gain, loss of libido, dry mouth, headache, insomnia, diarrhea or constipation.
Being a veterinarian, I understand the need for prescription medication for anxiety in certain circumstances but my gut instinct told me that being on 3 different medications just didn't seem right for me (none of the medications had a primary indication of treating anxiety by the way).
I decided that I needed to do what I felt was best for my body and situation and at least TRY microdosing mushrooms. Very shortly (within a few weeks) after starting to microdose, my anxiety significantly improved. I was very pleasantly surprised. The biggest thing that has changed is that I'm living a healthier lifestyle than ever before! I highly recommend reading Erin's book!
